ORAL LANGUAGE FOR EARLY YEARS (OLEY)

  • Expands children’s oral language skills, developing spoken language for a range of purposes
  • Explores the patterns and conventions of spoken language
  • Encourages early interaction with peers and familiar adults
  • Develops attentive and active listening skills
PREP METALINGUISTIC AWARENESS PROGRAM: 2ND EDITION (PMAP:2)
  • Develops the ability to hear the sounds (phonemes) in spoken language
  • Improves important pre-reading skills including rhyme, syllables, blending and segmenting, beginning and final sounds in words

Get Reading Right

  • Synthetics phonics program (blending sounds together to make words)
  • Children learn to blend (read) and segment (spell) words as they learn the phonemes (sounds) – develops reading and writing skills together
  • Student progress is closely monitored and tracked

Guided Reading

  • Small group instruction targeted to the level of each student
  • Develops reading skills of decoding and comprehension
  • Supported by additional adults
  • Four times per week in every classroom supported by Teacher Aides
  • Individual learning goals
  • Includes work on vocabulary

Daily Reading

  • Intensive individual support program based on book reading
  • Targets areas of need in decoding
  • Individual learning goals
  • Four times per week
  • Progress closely monitored and reviewed
