Welcome to the first issue of
Sustainability News @ Tinana. This Newsletter aims to share to the school and wider community our sustainability celebrations and updates, assisting us to record and describe our sustainability achievements and communicate important milestones for our school. This issue we flashback to 2011 to hear from past 2012 school leaders, Lachlan Morris, Emily Roberts, Courtney Smith and Luke Byrne about their involvement as Sustainability Leaders of Tinana State school and their important day at the Reef Guardian Schools and Future Leaders Eco Challenge Day held at Two Mile State School.
Sustainability simply means Enough For All Forever
Robyn Yates
Earth Smart Science Key Teacher
It is a pleasure to share with you a bit about the Reef Guardians Schools and Earth Smart Science Gympie Future Leaders Eco Challenge (FLEC) and the day we spent at Two Mile State School in 2011. We have shared this story on Parade, but felt it would be beneficial for our community and future Sustainable leaders at Tinana State School to share it on Tinana’s website as well. Every little bit can make a difference!
Students from Gympie East State School and Gympie State High School ran workshops on environmental topics that they have had success with, at the end of the day. We learnt how to plant trees and had to show what we had learnt by doing a quiz at the end.
All schools attending had to prepare to present (5 minutes maximum) on the environmental projects of our school. We chose to present our news broadcast on Saving Energy made by the Year 6 Triple E Savers.
Finally, please take a moment to look at our Photo Story
of our day; we would also like to share with you our School’s ongoing mission.
We are eager to keep raising awareness about saving energy and encourage you all to turn off your lights and appliances in your classrooms when you are not using them!
We would also like to encourage you to think about what you can do for our school to reduce our environmental footprint and forward your ideas to Mrs Yates or to Mr Burns.
Coming up in our next edition of Sustainability News at Tinana…
Current (2012) leaders of Tinana State School are going to share about past Nude Food Day’s at Tinana and how you can do your bit for the environment.
Remember Every Little Bit Can Make A Difference!
Thank you.
